Youth, Discover Tapestry, & After School Kid's Club
30/09/09 07:25
FRIDAY NIGHT PRAYER
This Friday, October 2, 7:00 pm at Max & Lynda's place. We'll also celebrate the Lord's Supper together. Join us!
YOUTH
Tapestry's youth are kicking off the year by getting together on Friday night. For details, check with Josh & Kelly Genn (jkgenn@gmail.com). The adventure to the Corn Maze has been postponed to Friday, October 16.
DISCOVER TAPESTRY
This Sunday, October 4, at 6:30 pm at Max & Lynda's place. Come learn more about who we are and what we're about. Please sign-up by contacting Steve.
AFTER SCHOOL KID'S CLUB???
Tapestry is prayerfully considering running an after school kid's club (for K-6) called Awana. Awana is a fun, Christ-centered program that inspires kids to learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus through games, activities, music, scripture memorization, special events and awards. It would not only be a great program for Tapestry's kids, but provide a powerful way to connect with families in our community and touch their hearts for Jesus. However, to offer a program like this requires a team of committed volunteers. To help gauge interest, a brief meeting will be held at church after church this Sunday for all those who: a) would be interested in having their kids participate, and b) would be interested in volunteering. If you can't make the meeting but are interested in being a part of a potential Awana program or for more information, please contact Kim Pangracs at kirachel@shaw.ca.
NOTE FROM THE MILLERS...
From David, Lauren & Zoe Miller:
"This has been a long time in coming--but with the move from Louisiana, trying to get settled in, starting school, looking for a job--and all that, we've been a little busy! But we really just wanted to express our heartfelt gratitude to Tapestry for your love and support toward us. It means so much to us to have a church home to return to. And walking in to an apartment that already had some food, furniture, appliances, and even some cleaning supplies in it was amazing! Tapestry has been so helpful to us in adjusting here, and we can't say thank you enough. We love and appreciate all of you."
BIRTHDAYS THIS WEEK...
Birthday blessings to the following people who are celebrating a birthday this week...Catherine Clark (Oct. 1), Josh Genn (Oct. 3) and Amanda Folk (Oct. 5). Did we miss you or someone in your family? Let Steve know.
COMING SOON...
This Sunday, we'll be looking at Acts 24. Check it out ahead of time!
GOD'S WORD IN YOU
Here's the memory verse for this week: Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)

BLESSING THE MILLERS
Thanks again to those who contributed to our efforts to bless David, Lauren & Zoe Miller on their arrival back in Canada a few weeks ago! They haven't asked, but sources tell us there are still a few household items they could use (kitchen chairs, chest of drawers, TV, etc.). If you have any items to donate (or would like to buy!), please get in touch with them either by phone at 403-851-0284 or by email at lauren.dave@gmail.com.
DOING LIFE TOGETHER
With fall upon us, Tapestry's small groups are getting going again after a summer break. Small groups are a great place where you can do real life together with others on the journey and grow in your relationship with Christ. If you're not currently a part of a small group, you should be! Talk with Max & Lynda Blazina (403-288-6615 or maxnme@shaw.ca) for more information on how you can jump into small group life at Tapestry.
YOUTH MINISTRY
Josh & Kelly Genn are looking for people who would be interested in helping out with youth at any level, or anyone who has some great ideas and would like to share them. They'll have a brief meeting to discuss youth on Sunday after church at church. If you're interested in helping out but can't make it on Sunday, or for more information, please contact them by email at jkgenn@gmail.com or give them a call at 403-668-1479.

DOING
LIFE TOGETHER
With fall upon us, Tapestry's small groups are getting going again after a summer break. Small groups are a great place where you can do real life together with others on the journey. They're a safe place to live out our values of GOD (delighting in God as we follow after Jesus); PEOPLE (doing life together as we give ourselves away); SCRIPTURE (loving, learning and living out God's Word); and TRANSFORMATION (becoming more and more in every way like Jesus). If you're not currently a part of a small group, you should be! Talk with Max & Lynda Blazina (403-288-6615 or maxnme@shaw.ca) for more information on how you can jump into small group life at Tapestry.
SPIRITUAL RENEWAL WEEK
The Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane would like to invite you to attend their annual Spiritual Emphasis Week. This is a gathering of the seminary community and guests for worship, to hear teaching from God's Word, and to focus on the Lord as a new school year gets underway. The speaker this year is Tapestry's own Dr. Glenn Watson, Professor of Preaching and Pastoral Ministries. He will be speaking on the topic "Descent into Greatness: Character Training for Tough Places." Everyone is welcome!
New to Tapestry? Interested in learning more about who we are and what we're about? You're invited to our "Discover Tapestry" class on Sunday, October 4, at 6:30 pm. This class is a pre-requisite for church membership. Please sign-up by contacting Steve.
CHILD DEDICATION
We're planning on having a baby/child dedication service in the next few weeks. If you have a child you'd like to dedicate to the Lord, or wish to explore what child dedication is all about, please speak with Steve.
CHURCH FAMILY CAMP
Great weather, great friends and great fun...what more could one ask for? Tapestry's Family Camp last weekend was a splendid affair, complete with garlic eating contest (won by Liam Hertzsprung), chili cook-off (Lynda's "Southern Baptist Hellfire & Damnation" chili won "Best Overall"), and hanging around the campfire. Check out the photos online!
SERMON SCRIPTURE
This Sunday, we'll be looking at Acts 21:37 - 22:29. Check it out ahead of time!
GOD'S WORD IN YOU
Not sure how many of you have been faithfully memorizing our weekly memory verse, but we only have eight left to go to finish off a year's worth (a verse a week for 52 weeks). As an added incentive to hide God's Word in your heart, Steve will take anyone and everyone out for dinner who is able to quote all 52 verses! Bible Memory brochures with the verses are available on the information table at church, or contact Steve and he'll send you a copy.
Here's the memory verse for this week: A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another (John 13:34-35).
