Movie Event, Small Groups, Men's Gathering, & Baby on the Way

This
Sunday...Same Time, New Place!
Just a reminder that Tapestry will be meeting at Tuscany School (990 Tuscany Drive) this Sunday, Feb. 1 at 10:30 am. See you there! Click here for a map.
Movie Event
From the creators of Facing the Giants (a great movie, if you haven't seen it), comes a new movie called FIREPROOF. It is an action-packed love story about a firefighter, his wife and a marriage worth rescuing. This powerful movie opens dialogue about conflict resolution, the differences between men and women, pornography, forgiveness and, most importantly, the need for God's love.
Tapestry is showing FIREPROOF on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 pm at the Tuscany Club. This is a great opportunity to touch not only relationships in our church, but also as a way to reach out to families in our community and let them know we're here to help them build strong families. We plan to follow-up the movie event with a one-day marriage seminar in March that provides practical help, hope and encouragement in fireproofing our marriages.
A limited number of free tickets will be available at church beginning this Sunday. Plan to come and invite friends or neighbors to join you! If you're interested in helping with the event, please talk with Abbie Macdonald.
Small Groups
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer...All the believers were together and had everything in common...Every day they continued to meet together...They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts...And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved (Acts 2:42-47).
Small groups are a great place where this kind of "life together" can be experienced within the context of loving, real relationships. Tapestry has a number of small groups that meet throughout the week, both in Calgary and Cochrane. If you're not currently a part of a small group, you should be! It's a safe place to live out our values of GOD (delighting in God as we follow after Jesus); PEOPLE (doing life together as we give ourselves away); SCRIPTURE (loving, learning and living out God's Word); and TRANSFORMATION (becoming more and more in every way like Jesus). Talk with Max & Lynda Blazina (403-288-6615 or maxnme@shaw.ca) for more information on how you can jump into small group life at Tapestry.
Men's Gathering
The guys are invited for a night of hot tubbing, games, foosball, x-box 360, etc. this Friday, Jan. 30. Bring some munchies and meet at Thom Gordon's (59 Church Ranches Blvd NW) around 7:00 pm. If you're new to Tapestry, this is a great chance to connect with the guys for a casual time of hanging out. For more information, contact Gordon Weynschenk at 403-475-5354.
Baby on the Way!
Calvin & Joyce Poon are expecting their baby to arrive any day! As a church, we want to come alongside them and help out with meals as they transition to this new phase of life. A meal sign-up sheet will be available at church on Sunday, or you can call/email Abbie Macdonald (403-851-1054) to sign-up. Since they live in Cochrane, frozen meals can be brought to church and Abbie will ensure they are delivered to Calvin and Joyce. Please remember the Poons in prayer...hopefully we'll hear something soon!
Dreads for Diabetes
Erin Johnstone has decided that it's finally time to get rid of the dreads. Rather than be bald for no good reason, she is raising money for Juvenile Diabetes research. The dreads are coming off on Monday February 9, 2009 at 5:00 pm in the Art room at the Children's Hospital and everyone is invited to come watch Erin get her drastic haircut. In the meantime, she's hoping to raise as much as she can for this worthwhile cause. If you'd like to sponsor her, she'll have pledge forms available at church, or contact her by email at i_am_wearing_a_shoe@hotmail.com.
God's Word in You
Here's the memory verse for this week: For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39 NIV).

On the Move, Dreads for Diabetes, Praying for our Planters
21/01/09 07:43
On
the Move!
As communicated last week, Tapestry is moving! As of Sunday, February 1, we will meet at Tuscany School (990 Tuscany Drive) at 10:30 am for our Sunday morning worship services and children's programs. This is another milestone in the story of Tapestry and it's exciting to think what God may have in store as we begin this new chapter of following Jesus together! Please keep our church in prayer during this transition, as there are many details and logistical considerations to iron out.
Upcoming Study - Who is Jesus?
One time, Jesus asked His disciples, "Who do the crowds say I am?" He then asked them, "What about you? Who do you say I am?" (Luke 15:18,20) And what did Jesus have to say about Himself? Josh Tait is leading a four-week study that will take a closer look at the answers to these questions. Things get underway this Sunday, Jan. 25 at 6:30 pm (note time change) at the Tuscany Club and continue on Feb. 1, 8 & 15. Whether you're exploring the Christian faith, a new Christian, or have walked with God for many years, this is a great opportunity to take a fresh look at who Jesus is. For more information or to sign-up, please contact Josh at joshuahtait@gmail.com or call him at 403-851-0338. Invite a friend!
Dreads for Diabetes
After 5 1/2 years and dreads that go past her waist, Erin Johnstone (nee Morrison) has decided that it's finally time to get rid of the dreads (or...most days she's decided it's time), and the only way to get rid of dreads is to shave your head. But rather than be bald for no good reason, she is raising money for Juvenile Diabetes research.
The dreads are coming off on February 8 and everyone is invited to come watch Erin get her drastic haircut (once we know the location we'll let you know). In the meantime, she's hoping to raise as much as she can for this worthwhile cause. If you'd like to sponsor her, she'll have pledge forms available at church that you can fill out, or contact her by email at i_am_wearing_a_shoe@hotmail.com.
Praying for our Planters
Just a reminder to pray for those we've sent out from our church family to plant churches in other communities: Nick & Cerena Melazzo (Rocky Ridge), Kelly & Brooke Reid (Citadel) and Jason & Leigh Wilks (Medicine Hat). Pray for strength, encouragement and a core team of people who will stand with them as they seek to share Jesus and start new churches in their respective communities.
Sermon Scripture
This week's passage is Acts 5:12-42. Check it out ahead of time and read how things really began heating up for the early church.
God's Word in You
Here's the memory verse for this week: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28 NIV).

We're Moving!, Who is Jesus?, Baby Shower, & Prayer Chain

Important News -
We're Moving!
Tapestry has worked hard to build a strong, positive relationship with the Tuscany Club for the past several years and the facility has served us well. God has been good! However, because of continued growth, we are starting to feel tight on space. After much discussion and prayer, the elders felt it was time we explored moving to another venue. We are pleased to announce that as of Sunday, February 1, Tapestry Church will now meet at Tuscany School (990 Tuscany Drive) at 10:30 am for our Sunday morning worship services and children's programs.
We will miss many things about being at the Club and will continue to seek to be an integral part of the community events they sponsor. However, we feel having more space on a consistent basis will help us in our efforts to reach out to our community with the love and message of Jesus. This is another milestone in the story of Tapestry and it's exciting to think what God may have in store as we begin this new chapter of following Jesus together! Please pray for our church during this transition, as there are many details and logistical considerations to iron out.

Baby Shower
A baby shower for Sarah Gullacher and little Jackson is planned for this Sunday, Jan. 18 at 2:00 pm at Kelly Genn's (2 West Callaway Place, Cochrane). For further details, please contact Kelly at 403-668-1479 or Chelsey Beda at 403-851-0413.
Friday Night Prayer
We've seen in our study of Acts the importance of prayer in the life of a healthy, growing, Spirit-filled church. Here's an opportunity to put that into practice! We'll gather for prayer at Max & Lynda's place (37 Tuscany Springs Circle) this Friday, Jan. 16 at 7:00 pm, followed by some hanging out time.
Prayer Chain
If you have NOT been receiving Prayer Chain updates via email or phone, but would like to, send Lynda Blazina a quick email at maxnme@shaw.ca requesting your name be added to the list. You will then receive prayer items that our church family has requested us to pray for. This is one great way to live out the Scripture "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6)
Sermon Scripture
This week's passage is Acts 4:32-5:11. Check it out ahead of time and read about a wave of great fear that swept through the early church.
God's Word in You
Here's the memory verse for this week:
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30 NIV).
