Happy New Year!, & A New Year's Challenge

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

A NEW YEAR'S CHALLENGE
One of our core values at Tapestry is
Scripture:  we love it, learn it and live it.  To help you love, learn and live God's Word, we gave "Daily Walk Bibles" to everyone last Sunday that include a reading plan and daily devotionals to help you read through the entire Bible in 2010.  It's a life-changing journey we'll be on together!  Be sure to bring your Bible with you to church each week, as we'll be using them in our messages.  If you were away last week, pick up your Bible this Sunday.  Here are the readings for this week:  Jan. 1 - Genesis 1 & 2; Jan. 2 - Genesis 3-5; Jan. 3 - Genesis 6-9.

NEW DIRECTORY - LAST CHANCE FOR UPDATES!
Our new Tapestry Directory is on its way!  If there have been any changes to your contact info (email, phone, address) since October when we had the directory printout at church for you to check, please get in touch with Steve by the end of this week.

PRAYING FOR ONE ANOTHER
This week, please pray for the
Hertzsprung Family (Evan, Meyen, Erin, Liam & Alys), Kimberly Janzen and Chris & Erin Johnstone.  As you pray, be sensitive to how God may want to use you to minister to them.

BIRTHDAYS THIS WEEK...
Birthday blessings to Kurt Gullacher who is celebrating his special day on December 30.  Happy Birthday Kurt!  Did we miss you or someone in your family?  Let Steve know and we'll update our records.

Merry Christmas!, Transition Team, & New Message Series

CHRISTMAS WISHES
On that first Christmas many years ago, an angel proclaimed, "Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord."  (Luke 2:10-11).  May this enduring message of hope from the night of our dear Savior's birth give you peace, comfort and joy - not just at Christmas, but all through the year.  MERRY CHRISTMAS!

TRANSITION TEAM
The elders are in the process of forming a Transition Team, whose mandate will be to prayerfully seek out a new pastor for Tapestry.  If you sense God may be leading you to serve on this team, please contact Max Blazina at 403-288-6615 or by email at
maxnme@shaw.ca.

NEW TIRES FOR THE MILLERS
Just a reminder that if you'd like to contribute toward the purchase of new tires for David & Lauren MIller's car, please contact Joyce Poon at 403-709-0300 or by email at joyce.s.poon@gmail.com.  As a church, we didn't formally adopt a family this Christmas, but this is a great opportunity for us to bless a family in our church - a gift that will help keep them safe.

WHERE'S THE FIRE TRUCK?
The Napadys are wondering if all parents could check their kids toys for a Lego fire truck that was lost at church a few weeks ago.  If you or someone in your household accidentally took it home (or stole it on purpose and are now feeling convicted), please contact Janet & Kevin as they'd love to get it back.  Thanks!

PRAYING FOR ONE ANOTHER
This week, please pray for the
Gordon Family (Thom, Lorie, David & Jared) and the Gullacher Family (Sarah, Kurt, Liam, Kylie & Jackson).  As you pray, be sensitive to how God may want to use you to minister to them.

NEW MESSAGE SERIES...
This Sunday, we introduce a new message series for the New Year aligned with our value of Scripture:  loving, learning and living God's Word.  We'll also be giving out Bibles that have 365 devotional helps to guide you through the Bible in one year.

Serving our Community, Church Family Christmas Party, & Updating our Website

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY
John Mains, Program Director at the Tuscany Club, has asked whether anyone from Tapestry would be available to help out at the community open house this coming Satruday, Dec. 19 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Club.  He's short on staff and looking for a few people who can help with the kids craft area, the snacks/treats table and just socialize with the residents who come out.  This is a great opportunity to serve our community!  If you can help, please contact Steve as soon as possible.

YOUTH
This Friday, Dec. 18 the youth are having a big, extravagant, most awesome mall hunt ever!  Bring every friend you have to Market Mall at 7:00 pm (we'll meet at the entrance by Starbucks).  Disguised volunteers are needed who the youth will be trying to find.  It's a great way to have some fun, do some of your Christmas shopping and help out the youth.  If you want to help, contact Josh & Kelly at 403-851-0338 or by email at jkgenn@gmail.com.

TAPESTRY FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY - THIS WEEK!
This Sunday, Dec. 20, 4:30 - 8:00 pm at the Tuscany Club.  We're selling tickets this year at a nominal cost ($3 per person or $5 per family) so we know how many people are coming and to help cover the cost of the turkeys, etc.  You're encouraged to invite friends or neighbors - just make sure you buy them tickets!  For tickets and food sign-up, please contact Lynda Blazina at 403-288-6615 or email her at maxnme@shaw.ca.  As has become tradition, everyone school-aged and over is asked to bring a wrapped "white elephant" gift (a used item you no longer want) for a fun and light-hearted gift exchange.

A heartfelt "Thank You!" to our amazing and talented youth (and leaders!) for leading our service last week.  We love and appreciate you and are tremendously proud of the great job you did!

CHRISTMAS CAROL SING - THIS FRIDAY!
Tapestry is sponsoring an old-fashioned Christmas Carol Sing for the community this Friday, Dec. 4, 6:30 pm at the Tuscany Club (outside).  After carolling around Tuscany, we'll gather around the fire for some hot chocolate, apple cider, popcorn and roasted marshmallows.  The grounds at the Club are all decked out with lights, so it should be a great way to kick off the holiday season.  Plan to come for the fun and invite your friends and neighbors to join you!

We need you!  Volunteers are needed to help at the event and to distribute flyers in the community this week.  If you can help, please contact Max Blazina at 403-288-6615.
