28/04/09 09:04
YOUTH
This Friday, the youth will be attending the High Valley concert at Bow Valley Baptist Church in Cochrane. The concert starts at 7:00 pm and is a fundraiser for Disaster Relief. There is no charge, but cash donations will be accepted at the door for those wishing to contribute. Anyone needing a ride should contact Janis Litorco at 403-669-4884.
FRIDAY NIGHT PRAYER
Last Sunday, we talked about the importance and power of prayer. Looking for a way to put that into practice? Join us this Friday at 7:00 pm at Max & Lynda's place. We'll celebrate the Lord's Supper and seek God together in prayer. Afterward, we'll hang out and play some games. Join us!
COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP
At Tapestry, we want Tuscany to be an even better place because we're part of it! We have an opportunity to get involved and help keep our community clean by volunteering at the annual spring clean-up next Saturday, May 9 from 9:00 am - noon. We'll join our neighbors for morning juice/coffee before hitting the parks and trails, then enjoy a BBQ lunch at the Club to wrap up the event. Come on out and volunteer a few hours with friends and family serving our community! Contact Steve to sign-up.
BAPTISM
Once we've decided to follow Jesus, He wants us to publicly confess our personal commitment to Him through believer's baptism. If you're interested in being baptized or just want to learn more about baptism, please speak with Steve or one of the elders (Bob, Max or Thom). We're planning a baptism service for late May/early June.
DISCOVER TAPESTRY
New to Tapestry? Interested in learning what we're about, where we sense God is leading us and how you can be a part of the Tapestry family? We'll be hosting a "Discover Tapestry" class on Sunday, May 31 at 6:30 pm at Steve & Marilyn's place. To sign-up, please contact Steve.
BELONGING
Tapestry isn't just a place to attend, it's a place to call home. Here are some ways you can connect more deeply as part of the Tapestry family:
Josh and Khara Tait are returning to Prince Rupert, BC this June to help out with Seafest and to continue building relationships with the local people. They would love to have some people from Tapestry join them as they seek to give themselves away and sow seeds for a possible church plant down the road. If interested, please contact Josh & Khara for more information.
SERMON FOLLOW-UP
Thinking about the message last Sunday...
Here's the memory verse for this week: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV).

Thinking about the message last Sunday...
- A key point: The most important work we can do as followers of Jesus is to pray. It's a ministry every single one of us can be a part of.
- For further reflection: Would you describe yourself as someone devoted to prayer? What specific things can you do to make prayer more a part of your life?
Here's the memory verse for this week: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Thinking about Steve's message last Sunday on Acts 11:1-18...
- A key point: Misunderstandings are a reality of life, but if handled properly are an opportunity to learn and grow and can lead to deeper understanding. We need to watch our reactions, seek to bring understanding and have open, teachable hearts.

GETTING TO KNOW OUR LEADERS
This week, we'll learn more about Max Blazina who serves as one of Tapestry's elders:
We have an opportunity to continue developing a relationship with the Hanthorn family who serve above the Arctic Circle in Ft. McPherson, NWT. This July, they are building a church in their community and they're looking for 60 volunteers to help with the project. If there is sufficient interest, Tapestry would love to send a team to be part of the effort. Most of the ticketed trades positions are filled, but they still need framers, drywallers, tapers and a bunch of other willing and able workers. We may also be able to help run a VBS or be involved in other community outreach while others help with the actual building of the church.
Plans are to start the church building project on Monday, July 21 and it should take roughly a week to complete. Opportunities for some "tourist" activities (flights to the Arctic Ocean, tour of Tuktoyaktuk, whale watching over the Baltic Sea, etc...) could be organized following completion of the project. Cost per person will depend on how the team from Tapestry made their way to Ft. McPherson.
If you're interested in exploring the opportunity further, please let Steve Rathje or Kim Pangracs know as soon as possible. In the meantime, please remember the project and Tapestry's possible involvement before the Lord in prayer.

GETTING TO KNOW OUR LEADERS
This week, we'll learn more about Max Blazina who serves as one of Tapestry's elders:
- Born: Calgary, AB
- A little about Max: For the last 21 years Max has lived in NW Calgary, and finds it odd that he never intended to live there in the first place. While working for Canadian Airlines and travelling about, he met the woman of his dreams and being instantly smitten, Lynda and Max were blissfully married and continued to explore the world. Before long, Max started to put down roots and bought a house, started a career as an electrician, and acquired domestic items such as furniture and a clothes washer. Scattered in that time were the births of his 3 fantastic kids: Ryshon, Christian and Tryse. Max has always known God's call to serve in the church wherever there has been a need. Opportunities in youth ministry, small group leader, mission trips, and men's ministry have been used by God to not only to allow Max to use his gifts to serve the church but also to learn, grow, and open his heart to the Spirit's teaching. Max is so thankful to be a part of Tapestry, and desires to see every person in the church have a deeper, stronger relationship with the God who loves us all more than we know.
- Favorite Book (other than the Bible): Hmmm...how do you pick 1 favorite? "The Hiding Place" by Corrie Ten Boom, or 'Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire', Jim Cymbala
- Favorite Music: Newsboys
- Favorite Place: Anywhere in the Rocky Mountains
- Favorite Pastimes: Camping, 'Blazina Friday Family Fun Night', cool evenings around a fire pit, biking
- Favorite Scripture: Isaiah 30:15 - "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength."
SERMON FOLLOW-UP
Thinking about Steve’s message last Sunday on Acts 10:1-48...
- A key point: The Holy Spirit is at work in our world and lives and we should be willing and ready to seize those divine moments and share the good news.
- For further reflection: Where do you see God at work in people's lives around you? What could you do to share the good news with them?
This week, we'll be looking at Acts 11:1-18. Check it out and read how the early church dealt with misunderstanding.
GOD'S WORD IN YOU
Here's the memory verse for this week: Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12 NIV).
