FRIDAY NIGHT PRAYER IN COCHRANE
Many in our church sense God is stirring the hearts of His people and there is anticipation for all He has in store. If you're in Cochrane, come join us for a time of seeking Him together in prayer this Friday, Feb. 12 at 6:00 pm at David & Lauren Miller's place (2 Seminary Ridge, Cochrane). Everyone is welcome!
YOUTH
This Friday is...wait for it...VALENTINE'S WITH DAVERS! All of the young ladies of Tapestry (boys are welcome too, of course!) and their friends are invited to come out for some Valentine's Day fun. Everyone will be participating in some friendly competition to try and win the affections of Tapestry Youth's most eligible bachelor! Meet at the Gordon's place at 6:00 pm with your game face on. Don't forget your bathing suit!
Mark your calendars! There will be a YOUTH RETREAT on Friday, March 5 to Sunday, March 7. Location and cost to be determined, but there are a bunch of fun activities, challenges, bible studies and great meals planned. More details to follow.
CEILIDH
We're having another another Ceilidh (pronounced "caylee"), a Scottish group dance, this Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 pm at the Tuscany Club. There will be a small charge (dependent on how many sign up) to cover the room rental - likely around $5 per person or $10 per family. Ceilidhs are very energetic, so don't dress too warmly and wear sensible shoes. Also, please bring either a drink or a snack to share. DISCOVER TAPESTRY
New to Tapestry? Interested in learning more about who we are and what we're about? Join us for a "Discover Tapestry" class on Friday, Feb. 19 at 7:00 pm. This class is a pre-requisite for church membership. Please sign up by contacting Steve.
DISASTER RELIEF TRAINING
The Canadian National Baptist Convention (CNBC) is offering a Basic Disaster Relief Training session in Calgary on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at Richmond Hill Baptist Church (lunch is provided). Upon completion of the training, you will be certified to go as part of a disaster relief team with the CNBC. To register, contact the church office at 403-242-1256 or ffice@richmondhillbaptist.com">office@richmondhillbaptist.com. There is no fee for this training, but participants are asked to register ahead of time in order for the trainers and coordinators to be adequately prepared for numbers.
LEADERSHIP RECOMMENDATIONS
As previously communicated, the Elders are recommending Bob Shelton assume the role of Lead Pastor (Lead Elder) of Tapestry. In addition, Glenn Watson and Steve Rathje have been nominated to serve new 3-year terms as Elders. For further details, see last week's newsletter. Please prayerfully consider these recommendations in preparation for a vote to be held after church on Sunday, Feb. 21 by those who have signed our membership covenant. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk with any of our current Elders (Max Blazina, Steve Rathje, Thom Gordon) prior to this date, and/or feel free to talk with Bob about how he feels God has been leading him to make himself available to serve in this way.
CHILDREN'S MINISTRY LEADER
We have an immediate need for someone to give leadership to our Children's Ministry (Grade School) program. After faithfully serving as our Children's Ministry Coordinator for some time, Khara Tait feels it's time she step back and focus her energies elsewhere. We are so appreciative of all she has done to give leadership to this vital ministry. Thanks Khara!!! If you're interested in exploring the role further, please talk to any of our Elders (Bob, Max, Steve or Thom).
